Lollipop Lock Screen Icon Notifications Instead of Banners

From everything I have read, there isn't a way to fix this in the settings, so I am just posting this to try and get it fixed...

I have an S5 (but I'm pretty sure this is an across the board Lollipop issue though), and now on my lock screen w/ Lollipop in the top left corner there is now an AT&T icon instead of the icon notifications (email, text, facebook, etc) that were there w/ KitKat. I get that I can make a banner come across my screen now (which btw, having it say "content hidden" when you select the hide sensative content option is stupid, just have it show application name). But I don't want a big notification across my screen, I just want to see the icons. They reappear when I unlock my phone, but that doesn't do me any good when I want to see if I have anything that has come through (like a text) that is worth me unlocking my phone without having some annoying notification banner across my entire screen. If I wanted a notification banner, I'd get an iPhone. Fix this please.

sorry the new notifications is hardcoded in android.  There is not a thing ATT or samsung can do with it.  The banners are one of the best things google has done with android.  I have been using lollipop since last June so for me I have just gotten used to it.
