Lg g3 d850 says it needs to update software, but will not.

Hello, I just bought an lg g3 d850. It said a software update was available. Tried to download and install it and it failed. Gave me an error message that said to contact lg. I was told it was an AT&T problem. I checked the software version on this phone and it is D85030k.. Now it's saying it's up to date but has no update history. I'm really confused about this. My wife's phone is doing the same thing. Any help would be appreciated.

Salutations @Lmar7431!

Having the latest software in your phone is certainly important for the function of your device. I’m glad you reached out with your concerns. I am delighted to assist you today!

I am seeing here the LG G3 is up to version D85030I, there are a couple of things which may be causing this snag in the device updating. When trying to perform an update it is highly recommended the phone is connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network.

If the above is not the issue, our next best step will be to backup and restore your device. Our Device Support page does an exquisite job at guiding you through this process step by step. All you need to do is choose your device by make and model, click on View All Solutions, then scroll down to Backup & restore. Select your preferred method, and follow the step by step directions.

After the backup has been completed, we will need to master reset the phone. This will ensure the phone can receive the update without any problems. The process also returns your phone to its original factory settings. No need to worry, we did a backup and your information is safe. Go to Settings > General > Backup and reset > Factory data reset > Reset Device > Delete All. The phone may take a minute to complete this process.

I appreciate your time and thank you for letting me assist you! Have a wonderful rest of your day!

Thanks for your reply. It did not help though. I tried backing up and master resetting my phone a few times. It still says the same error message when I try to install the software update.

If I were you, I would not bother to upgrade the firmware until you are absolutely forced by AT&T. Just do a search on this forum and you will see the great number of LG phones get the bootloop and black screen issues just from updating firmware. Use it when you can and prepare to replace the phone, 2 years top in most cases. Sorry about the bad news.
