Transferring phone number to AT&T Prepaid Plan without Social Security Number

Hi all,

I'm an international student studying in the US, and after using Mint Mobile for 3 months, I have decided to purchase the 12-month AT&T Prepaid Plan ($25/mo). However, as I would like to keep my current number, and as I do not yet have my Social Security Number, I have not been able to complete the purchase process. 

Having read some of the forum posts around here, it seems that the SSN is requested for AT&T to run a credit check. As I'm registered with a college-affiliated Credit Union, I was wondering if there might be an alternative way for me to facilitate a credit check without having to provide an SSN that I have yet to obtain.

Would any AT&T employee be able to kindly advise how I may proceed with this please? Thanks a lot in advance!
