Original iPad AT&T cellular service

I have one of the original iPad cellular service unlimited accounts whose price was never supposed to increase EVER but obviously did. I used to be able to move my cell service between different iPads. Which was convenient as I could take the most appropriate iPad with me on the road. Recently, it stopped being able to switch between iPads. Now I cannot even open with the Manage My Account button on my iPad. There has been no notification of change in my service. There is no easy way to see what has changed with my plan. It appears when my iPad is no longer useful I will need to cancel my plan as there is no way to move the plan to a different device. Is there any link on the AT&T website that addresses the future of my data plan?

Let me add that my current iPad does have LTE service so it should not be a  problem. The error message when I try to manage the account is “Invalid Access. Please close the page and reopen View Account (USIM9991)

Hello MKGru, we're here to help get you access to your AT&T cell service data plan on your iPad.

We want to get you into a Direct Message to further investigate. Check your Direct Message Inbox (it’s the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums) and reply back.

In the meantime, please gather the following information. On your iPad go to settings, general, about and get the cellular data number and the IMEI number listed under about.

We will get started to figure out the root cause and work towards a solution. You may be using the incorrect email address associated to that particular device. Keep an eye out for the DM.

Thank you for contacting the AT&T Community Forums.

FYI

Carriers most often grandfather a plan. That means the plan terms are still available for as long as you keep it open. They do not guarantee that the price will never increase.

The $29.99 iPad plan was grandfathered at a higher price of $34.99 way back in January of 2020

Actually, the first cellular iPad was promised a never increase price plan and was subject to a (Edited per community guidelines) (Edited per community guidelines). The original iPad was promised unlimited turning on and turning off of the service as well. AT&T realized their mistake within the first two weeks the iPad was on sale and stopped offering the plan. The original plan eventually  was raised to $30 and has been $34.99 for a while now.

The settlement for the (Edited per community guidelines) (Edited per community guidelines) gave me about $20. No where near the original value, but I have been happy with the completely unlimited service. It has been nice to be able to switch between devices, but since AT&T is no longer allowing new activations, they have turned off the ability for me to switch between several devices. In fact, when I signed in via the att.com/iPadlanding webpage, the website states that I have to change plans if I want have service on a different device.

I guess the grandfathering of the original plan will terminate with my current device at least until somebody else files a new (Edited per community guidelines) suit. I never opt in or out of (Edited per community guidelines) (Edited per community guidelines) as they seem to be just a way for lawyers to get richer.

@bpalomino01

MKgru is incorrect with the following exception.  The original iPad unlimited data plan,  was only sold for a very brief period of time when they very first cellular iPad 3G was released.   It did promised unlimited, no throttle for life of the plan.

After a short time it was no longer sold as 'no throttle ever'

The original price was $29.99.  This was not for life.

Customers were permitted 4g and LTE service, even though this was a 3G plan, and grandfathered (no 9ne complains about that right?

Once a plan is grandfathered, you must maintain it, or you lose it.

The plan was discontinued in January 2020 for new activations.

Many used the iPad sim in dedicated hotspots, and AT&T swept imei and terminated their service for it.

If you maintained a physical sim, you can move it to a new iPad and verify the imei with at&t
