i have an ATT prepaid $.35 a minute account with $200 in it which is set to expire in may, 2023 ... what are my options ?
hi ... i'm a senior who has an ATT pre-paid $.35 a minute account with a $200 balance in it ... apparently the balance expires may of 2023 ... this phone is only used for emergencies ... it used to be $.10 a minute ... i never got anything from ATT saying the price was going up ... !! what are my options here to keep my phone "alive" ? do i have to keep feeding the meter ?? is it still $25 for every 3 months or $100 a year to extend my expiration date using auto-pay ? can i use the $200 in my account to pay for the $100 to extend it 1 year ... ? or do i have to feed the meter endlessly forever ... like i said, i'm a senior and only use the voice/text feature of the phone in emergencies ... there is absolutely no info on this issue anywhere on ATT's website ... !! can someone help me out ?? thanks so much !!

No. Any previous deposits were already used to extend your balance expiration. The balance in your AT&t prepaid account can only be used to pay for service..
Refill work like this:
$100 or more extends the balance 365 days from day of refill.
$25 to $99 extends the balance 90 days from day of refill.
Less than $25 extends the balance 30 days from day of refill.
This information is published in AT&t's prepaid terms of service. But I understand it can be difficult to find if you don't know what you're going to Google search.

thank you formerlyknownas ... so if i go to the pre-paid site and set up auto-pay and add $25 to my account, it will add 90 days to my expiration date ? if that's the case, looks like i should do this maybe a day before my account balance is due to expire, which is on may 18th ... and then every 90 days, i'll get charged another $25 which extends my expiration date another 90 days ... ? do i have that right ? thanks so much

I have a similar question so would appreciate discussion of options here for the benefit of all.
I am on the 35¢ / Minute plan with AutoPay adding $25 every 90 days and a current account balance of $243.84.
I see an option to change to the $30 Monthly Plan, which says "Plan charge will be automatically deducted every 30 days from your account balance." Will AutoPay adjust automatically, or must I cancel it until the balance is drawn down in ~8 months?

Refills will deduct from your balance until your expiration date or balance is insufficient to refill.
Please note previous info on expiration dates
Refill work like this:
$100 or more extends the balance 365 days from day of refill.
$25 to $99 extends the balance 90 days from day of refill.
Less than $25 extends the balance 30 days from

"AT&T PREPAID account holders who are not on a monthly plan will be charged the amount of $25, regardless of any existing account balance." Since "$25 to $99 extends the balance 90 days from day of refill," I need AutoPay to continue adding $25 every 90 days to protect my balance from expiring while being drawn down by the new monthly plan. Can it be set to do that, or would it be best to cancel AutoPay, add $100 to extend my balance by 12 months, and then restart AutoPay for $30 / month early next year ($243.84 + $100 = $343.84 / $30 = ~11 months with taxes)?
