How to reactivate a mobile hotspot
I have a mobile hot spot in my RV. At times we can go for months with it turned off. ATT seems to deactivate the SIM after some amount of time the last two times this has happened I had to get a new SIM card, even though they keep collecting my monthly fee. Anyway to prevent this or reactivate myself? I have had to call support before.

likely your hotspot was 3g, at&t shut down its 3 g network resulting in accounts being shut down.

What is the exact make and model of your hotspot device? More than likely the hotspot is not on ATT’s list of supported devices even if it is LTE capable. If your device is not LTE capable, it shouldn’t work on ATT at all now since 3G has been shut down. Also, what plan do you have? There is no need to be paying for a plan monthly when you aren’t using it. With a prepaid data only plan, you’re supposed to be able to go 12 months without renewing your plan before the account is closed.

So what plan do you have? Another possible reason for deactivating the SIM card is if you are using a plan not intended for a hotspot device, in other words a phone plan.

Hello @GalenWiles55, we're happy to help with information to connect your Netgear Mobile Hotspot.
Starting April 13, 2022, you can no longer purchase new DataConnect Pass (Session-Based) data plans. If you’re looking for a new data-only plan, you can choose from the new AT&T PREPAID data plans for tablets and mobile hotspots.
In addition, to the information provided by @Constructive. It’s important to check the device model number to make sure it’s still supported after the 3G network shutdown.
