If your AT&T prepaid account is disconnected, that means it's been canceled. How long has it been since you refilled service?   If your balance was zero for more than 60 days and you had not refilled in order to extend your balance, your service would have been canceled and number lost.

Even if service was inactive, for example 48 days into that 60 days with a zero balance you still would have been able to log in, add funds, and resume service.
