Is there a way to determine the phone number or location of a call marked "Private" by the caller

No.  Other than answering the phone and asking them and hoping they give you an honest answer. Call Mark private or Mark private for a reason. Calls from my doctor are marked private. I assume when my doctor calls me and it's marked private that he's calling from his personal phone and does not wish to receive calls from patients on that number
