File a claim against AT&T roadside assistance
Where can I file a claim against roadside assistance? I had a flat tire several weeks ago that was $32.00 to get serviced by AT&T roadside assistance. I already had an, albeit old, tire that could be put on the car and then replaced several days later when I got paid. I just needed someone to remove the flat tire and put the new one on as I didn’t have the proper equipment.
Come to find out, when I go to get a new spare put on at discount tire two days later, they said they couldn’t due to two studs being damaged by the AT&T roadside technician and they recommended I take it to BrakeCheck. Couldn’t put the new spare I had bought on the car yet, so I still have to go back after all this and get it installed as they won’t work on my car until the wheel is repaired.
BrakeCheck estimated $300.00 worth of work to fix two studs, but closer inspection showed that three studs were over torqued, one was frozen, and the other was just spinning, and now the wheel needs to be replaced. The kicker is, they couldn’t do it, so they recommended a shop.
I took it to the shop hoping it would be around $300.00, but because of the special locks on the lug nuts and the fact none of the studs and lug nuts on the tire are salvageable, I need to order complete new ones and get work done on the tire. Estimated cost, $750.00.
What was supposed to be a really simple $32.00 job has cost almost 23x that, all because the technician didn’t listen to me regarding the lug nuts or how the tire was to be put back on. I have not been able to drive my car for several weeks as it is not safe to drive as any moment the studs could fail and the wheel itself could fall off. I have the necessary documentation from Brake Check and Discount Tire as to why they can’t fix the vehicle/the cause and extent of damage done, and when I have the funds to fix the car I will have documentation from the shop.
$750.00 is a lot of money that I don’t have readily available, so I’m having to ignore other bills to pay and get my car fixed. Please do what’s right and reimburse for these costs.

You need to deal with whatever garage did the work. AT&T just like AAA farms these jobs out to whoever will take it. AT&T take no takes no responsibility for shoddy work by an employee of a third party garage.
AT&T roadside assistance does not cover major repairs to your automobile. It has a very limited amount of service provided, flat tire, out of gas, towing to the limit of $75 per incident.
AT&T has not allowed any new sign ups for this service for 4 years.
Those who still have it and pay for it are paying for the few people that are still willing to put up with getting paid pennies compared to what AAA or other garages are getting for the same service.
My advice is find out what garage did the work and take them to court, small claims . Cancel roadside assistance and sign up for AAA. Just be aware that AAA has its own problems. The garages they call to do the service calls do not want to work nights and weekends anymore.

Thank you! It wasn’t any of the three places that damaged the tire, though. It was the technician AT&T sent out when I contacted roadside assistance. I don’t feel right about taking a shop who didn’t damage the vehicle to small claims court.
AT&T really won’t cover the damage their service did to my vehicle? I mean they’re a large corporation, $750.00 is a drop in the bucket for them. For me, it’s a large chunk of rent or groceries for several weeks.

From the link above:
This Roadside Assistance program is a service provided by Dominion Motor Club for the customers of AT&T.
The AT&T Roadside Assistance program is provided to wireless subscribers of AT&T by Dominion Motor Club, 500 Borla Drive, Johnson City, TN 37604.
AT&T does not have roadside technicians. AT&T had (no longer) a deal with Dominion who, in turn, contracted with independent wrecker services. You need to take your grievances to Dominion Motor Club. AT&T just provided the opportunity to have roadside assistance.
I have AAA. If I have a flat & call them and whoever shows up messes my wheel up, I would not expect AAA to reimburse me the cost of repairs.

I don’t know who else to contact, that’s the thing. It was all done through roadside assistance from AT&T, with the technician that was sent out. DMC being involved is news to me, mainly because I don’t use roadside assistance often.
I’m reading through the link once more to see where I can file a claim with DMC. Thanks for the help. This whole situation is thoroughly disappointing and I’ll be out a significant chunk of money over someone else’s mistake, but so long as AT&T gets their $2.99 or so a month. 🫠

Have you called the roadside assistance number to see if they have contact information for Dominion Motor Club?

I understand the financial distress you've been put under. But you're asking the wrong place, the wrong business.
AT&T does not send out it's own technicians for roadside service. This is a subscription service through AT&T, fulfillment by 3rd parties. Just like asurion insurance which may be paid through your cell phone bill, but is contracted fulfilled and supplied by a completely third party business unrelated to AT&T in any way.
You will have to track down the business that actually came out and did the tire swap.
I don't know if AT&T roadside assistance could even tell you what business was dispatched for your tire change, but that's where I would start.

Thank you both very much-
I was able to track down the company through the text messages they had sent me while I was waiting for the service. Then had to verify I was on the correct website and go from there. Just got off the phone with them. Fingers crossed because I could barely afford the $32.00 for the service provider to put the spare on my car, and I certainly can’t afford $750.00 worth of repairs that could have been avoided had the service provider listened.
Hopefully it gets sorted out within the next 48 hours here.
Happy Monday to you both! 😊
